Camden Green Loop
I spearheaded the Camden Green Loop, a design strategy to enhance public spaces and their connections. Using a co-design approach, we value the lived experiences of paid 'Neighbourhood Designers' equally with professional design skills, ensuring sustainable and impactful change.
The engagement strategy features academic panels, creative workshops, and interactive exhibitions. Alongside the Neighbourhood Designers, local institutions like the Roundhouse, London Zoo, and Camley Street Natural Park have committed to incorporating the strategy’s values in their own projects.
I designed workshops where attendees crafted the project’s brand through creative outlets like collaging and poetry. Site visits with graphic designers, architects, and planners helped the community develop ideas, which I integrated into the Common Plan. Now a guide for project inspiration and funding, the plan is backed by the Local Authority.
The first major project of the Camden Green Loop to be deployed will be Camden Town, Make an Entrance! - a public realm initiative looking to transform the experience of arriving in Camden, with £300,000 funding including contributions from the Mayor of London.
